2nd British Council New Directions in English Language Assessment Conference in Latin America

New Directions 2020 postponed

The British Council has taken the decision to postpone the 2nd New Directions in English Language Assessment Conference in Latin America scheduled to take place in August 2020 in Bogota, Colombia. After closely monitoring local Government and health authority guidance relating to Covid-19, we feel this is the right choice in ensuring the wellbeing of all our conference attendees and staff.

3rd Language Supervisor Training Course (LSTC3)

In the rapidly expanding world of English Language Teaching business, there is an increasing demand for not only English teachers but also supervisors for Language institutes, centers, or schools. Experienced teachers are usually the target of recruitment for such management posts. However, there is no guarantee that a fully-experienced teacher will act like a well-prepared skillful supervisor educated for the position.

Teacher Training Course (TTC)

Each module is a sixty-hour practical course which runs for eight weeks (one day a week) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The course includes a series of interactive input sessions on the key areas of teaching (such as ‘classroom management’ and ‘teaching skills and systems’) delivered by internationally certified trainers, plus a number of TPs (Teaching Practices) performed by the candidates on a weekly basis throughout the course.

HKCPD Hub International Conference 2021

This Conference is an excellent professional development opportunity for English teaching professionals to meet, network, discuss, learn from each other and explore opportunities for greater collaboration to encourage and sustain interactive communities of practice.  Ultimately, this International Conference is an opportunity to promote effective teaching practices and disseminate innovative research aimed at improving the quality of English teaching and learning in higher education in Hong Kong and the rest of the world.

CPD for New Teacher Trainers

From teacher to teacher educator is a career move that many teachers find themselves contemplating and/or pursuing, some as a natural next step to their ELT career and some as a result of relevant studies at postgraduate level. Once ‘in the field’ though, there is little there to help the new/novice trainer with their continuous professional development. In this talk, I hope to share some ideas and available resources to help new trainers who may feel isolated and lack opportunities for further development in their local context.

[HKBU CoP Head Start] Confluence: An ensemble of ELT pedagogies

We warmly invite you to participate in a one-day symposium on 1 June 2019 (Saturday) at HKBU.  The theme is Confluence: An ensemble of ELT pedagogies.  The symposium is a wonderful platform for participants to share pedagogical ideas, to disseminate ELT research findings, and to celebrate teacher professional learning.  It also presents you with a precious opportunity to establish networks in the TESOL community.

An ensemble of pedagogies
